A native of Northern California, Mark Lye began playing golf at the age of nine. Since that time, he has become a familiar face to many spanning an 18-year career on the PGA TOUR that began in 1977. Currently, Mark is an Analyst on The Golf Channel (TGC) and a player on the PGA’s Champions TOUR. A three-time All-American at San Jose State University, Mark joined the professional golf ranks in 1975 playing in Europe and Australia. After winning the 1976 Rolex Trophy tournament in Switzerland, the Australian PGA Tour’s coveted Champion of Champions event in 1976 and the 1976/77 Australian Tour Order of Merit, Lye joined the PGA TOUR in 1977 where he was a consistent money winner for 18 years. His PGA TOUR career earnings totaled nearly $2 million with his best year in 1983 when he captured the Bank of Boston Classic and finished 28th on the money list.
Lye’s knowledge of the game on and off the course, as well as his versatility as a player, an instructor and a speaker have brought him great success making him a popular figure among his peers, business clients and golf fans. And, adding to his credits is a cameo appearance in the 1996 film, “Happy Gilmore.” Mark and his wife now reside in Florida.
