THE FIRST TEE
GOOD GOLFERS. Better PEOPLE.
The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia is a youth development organization that provides youth with educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Our professional staff has decades of experience working with young people and are expert teachers of the game of golf. They care about the participants and want to see them grow as people.
We currently serve youth at golf facilities, schools, and youth development programs our 8 county footprint, including our two main teaching and playing facilities, the Jay Sigel Learning Center at FDR Golf Course (South Philadelphia) and Walnut Lane Golf Club (Roxborough).
At the Jay Sigel Learning Center, our facility is located adjacent to the clubhouse. With over 4,000 sq. ft, our facility at FDR is a wonderful place to learn about the game. It houses our offices, 1000 sq. ft. putting/chipping green, golf simulator, two indoor hitting bays, a 10 station computer lab. Outside we have a synthetic putting green, a 12 station synthetic tee driving range, and a short game area.
At Walnut Lane, The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia manages the golf course, which is part of the Fairmount Park System in the Roxborough section of the city. Our goal in managing this facility is to provide our participants’ access to golf at little to no cost. The program is delivered inside the clubhouse and outside where we have a small driving range, a synthetic putting green, and a short game area.
We are grateful to Jay for his leadership over the last 40 years as Board Member and President, and now Chairman Emeritus of The First Tee of Greater Philadelphia.
